Once in a Lifetime

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

What happened to the summer? Public schools are back in session. The Dallas Cowboys football team has played their first pre-season game. College football starts next weekend. What happened to the summer? Like so many things in life, summer comes and goes with the passing of time.

There are some things in life that happen only once (or at least seldom) – these we do not want to miss. Graduations. Weddings. Births. Retirement. To name just a few special occasions. These all include a celebration of the way life has been and the beginning of the way life will be.

On September 21st, Stonebridge UMC will celebrate 30 years of ministry to this community. This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime events – something we do not want to miss. It will be a time of celebrating 30 years of fruitful ministry and looking forward to the future with great anticipation.

Our celebration will include one combined service in Celebration Hall at 10:00 a.m., followed by a meal in the RAC at 11:30 a.m. It will be a wonderful day of worship and fellowship together! Please plan to be present that day and invite others… especially any former members who may no longer be involved at Stonebridge.

Click here to RSVP for our 30th Anniversary Celebration lunch. The menu details are included there. We need people to respond by September 14. As of now, 54 have already replied, which is a good start.

Other upcoming events…

  • August 17, 1:00 p.m. – Dedication of Ruthie Masterson Garden. Much of the funds given for our landscaping improvements were given in memory of Ruthie Masterson. We will have a brief dedication service on the north side of the building next to the office entrance.

  • September 7 – Bring-a-Tithe Sunday. Coming out of the summer, this Sunday will be our time to catch up on our giving. Let’s see what the Lord can do through us by prayerfully bringing 10% of our income for one week as an offering to the Lord through the church.

This Sunday’s sermon…

I will be preaching from John 5:1-9, Jesus’ healing of the lame man at the pool of Bethzatha. Jesus asked the man, “Do you want to be healed?” If Jesus were to approach us today and ask the same question, what would our answer be?

Invite someone to worship this week!

See you Sunday!
