The Main Event
/Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Our Lenten dinners and studies were a huge success. Every week, the gathering of those eating together and studying together grew. This past Wednesday, there were kids running everywhere. Molly Gardner said this was the largest group of kids she has had for any mid-week event.
Now comes the main event… Holy Week and Easter.
The foundation of the Christian faith is an event – the Resurrection of Jesus changes everything. Our hopes, dreams, fears, future, families, and happiness are transformed in the rising of the new day of our resurrected Lord.
On Easter, we proclaim that the suffering of this world is not the way of God. Easter is God’s word that darkness is defeated. On the first Easter Sunday, a new direction was set for the whole world. We will never be the same. The power and hope that was given at Easter is now given daily to those who believe. Though we are knocked down, we are not out. Though we are driven into the ground, we are not done. On Easter, God proclaimed that defeat and despair shall not have the last word.
God is not done with us yet. Christ is risen! Praise God! Hallelujah!
I look forward to seeing you at:
Palm Sunday services at 9:45 and 11:00 a.m., as we celebrate Jesus as King of kings
Maundy Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Celebration Hall, as we remember the Last Supper of Jesus
Good Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Robertson Activity Center, as we remember the crucifixion of Jesus and the last words of Jesus
Easter at 9:45 a.m. in Celebration Hall and 11:00 a.m. in the Roberson Activity Center, to celebrate the victory of Christ
Remember… after the Palm Sunday service at 11:00 a.m. an Easter Egg Hunt will be provided for all children. Bring your friends, neighbors, and family as we make Stonebridge UMC the most joyful place on earth!!!!
See you soon! Invite a guest and join in the celebration!
God bless you,
Pastor John Allen
As the Apostle Paul proclaims, “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is about to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:18)
