Better Together

Greetings in the Name of our Lord,

The weather in Texas can be challenging with hot summers and the occasional frigid days with ice covered streets in the winter. This weekend is one of those challenging times. After much prayerful consideration and counsel with our leadership, members, staff, and clergy colleagues, our worship will be online only this Sunday. For the safety of our members and staff, I believe this is the best decision. You should have already received an email with this information.

Over the years, each Sunday I look forward to seeing people on Sunday morning. It is a joy and honor to serve as a pastor. I will miss seeing you this Sunday. I hope you will join me online as I share a moment of prayer and a message from God’s word.

I will be preaching from 1 Corinthians 1:1-3; 10. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is the story of God’s people joined together by the Spirit of God. The Bible is clear… we were made to be in community together. We need each other, and we are better together. Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth speaks to what brings us together as brothers and sisters in Christ. This is a message not only for the Church but also for our families and other relationships in our lives. Let me know what you think.

One final word…

We had hoped this Sunday to complete our giving emphasis to the support the staff and church ministries. Being online only makes that goal difficult. We still have a lot of work to do. Help us finish this emphasis so the finance committee can complete their work on our ministry budget for 2026. You can complete your estimate of giving by clicking on this link.

In closing, winter storms with severe cold and ice can be dangerous. It can also be a blessing. Let’s take a break from the hectic lives we lead. Spend time with family. If you know someone who lives alone, give them a call to check on them and bless them with conversation and care. Tell someone, “I love you.”

May your weekend be blessed by spending time with family. I look forward to seeing you again when the roads are clear.

I thank my God for every remembrance of you,  always in all my prayers for you, praying with joy for your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now. (Philippians 1:3-5)
