Christmas is a Promise
/Greetings in the Name of the Bethlehem Jesus,
It is hard to believe that it is only six days until Christmas. Have you mailed your letter to Santa? The US Postal Service reports that they process hundreds of thousands of letters to the North Pole each year. The New York branch alone, (the largest postal office in the United States) processes over 500,000 letters to Santa.
One of my favorite quotes from one of these child’s letters goes like this…
Dear Santa Claus,
When you come to my house there will be cookies for you. But if you are really hungry you can use our phone and order a pizza to go.
Christmas is most special through the eyes of a child as they get ready for the magic of Santa’s visit and hear the story of Jesus’ divine birth. Adults tend to lose themselves in the rush and commercialized demands of Christmas. Our children understand that most of all, Christmas is a promise. The promise of God that our world will eventually find its way to a loving, peace-filled, joyful God-defined day because of the child of Bethlehem – Jesus.
Christmas is a time of great joy. Join the Stonebridge Church family this Sunday and on Christmas Eve as we experience again the wonder and mystery of Jesus’ birth. Come hear the voices of our children sing “Away in a Manger”, as we light a candle in the quiet moments of “Silent Night”, and as we proclaim the good news for all to hear through the triumphant celebration of “Joy to the World.”
For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders, and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
Have a Merry Christmas!
See you on Sunday and Christmas Eve!
