Hearts & Hands For Malvern
Stonebridge UMC partners with a local elementary school to help provide support and resources which help students achieve their greatest potential in these early education years. Throughout the year, our congregation volunteers their time in the classrooms, raises funds and supplies for teachers and students, provides a summer food program for students who may face hunger outside of school, hosts appreciation events for teachers and staff, and much more! Partner with us as we partner with the students, faculty, and staff at Malvern Elementary.
For the 2026-27, we will:
•Pair every teacher with a Classroom Partner who will volunteer at least 1 hour a week in the classroom.
•Host a Summer Food Pantry that helps families with Malvern students who may otherwise be hungry.
•Host a Christmas Gift program for families with Malvern students who are in financial need.
•Volunteer as a part of the school-wide field day.
•Provide appreciation treats and luncheons for teachers and staff several times in the year.
•Provide school supplies to students in the Fall and classroom supplies to teachers in the Spring.
•And partner with the principal and PTA on any other projects needed.
•Most Importantly: We will build relationships with our neighbors in the community as we grow and learn together!

Malvern August Headphone Collection
Malvern students use headphones daily, and the teachers are requesting headphones for their students. We’ll be collecting headphones throughout the month of August. We have found some excellent quality headphones on Amazon for only $11.99. They can be sent directly to the church, and we will deliver them to the school. Click here to order headphones. Contact Sharon Laird for more information.
Classroom Partners
Stonebridge UMC has served Malvern Elementary, a Title 1 school serving low-income families, since 2009…17 years! Malvern Elementary has never been able to establish a PTA, and we has served as such, filling many different roles.
For the past 12 years, Stonebridge UMC has provided a Classroom Partner for each Teacher/Classroom, grades K – 5th grade. Each Classroom Partner assists the teacher by working with 1 student or a small group of students. They usually work with students on reading skills, math or reading comprehension.
Partners choose their grade level and then are assigned to a teacher. They determine, with the teacher, what day and time would be best for their schedules. Classroom Partners are asked to give a minimum of 1 hour per week.
With the closing of 3 MISD Elementary Schools this year, Malvern has had 9 additional teachers/classrooms this year! We are being asked to provide 31 Classroom Partners!!

Once your application has been approved, let Becky know, and she will assign you to a teacher/classroom.
Mentors
Mentors are volunteers who are assigned to 1 child for the school year. A Mentor meets with the student during the student's lunch hour one time per week. They commit to 45 minutes a week. The Mentor gets to know the child, provides encouragement and guidance. Mentors help improve a student’s self-esteem, self-confidence, motivation, and personal and social skills and grades. Mentor Training will be provide by MISD's REACH staff.
Both positions require that each volunteer apply to McKinney ISD for approval as a 2026-27 school volunteer.
For more information, please contact Becky Neeley at Rneeley610@aol.com or 214-755-4958, voice or text.
Malvern School Supply Drive
Thank you to all those who donated school supplies this year!
Malvern Summer Food Pantry
As part of Stonebridge UMC’s partnership with Malvern Elementary, we run a Summer Food Pantry for students and families who would normally depend on the free breakfast and lunch during the school year. Food insecurity is an even bigger issue at this point in time with the cost of groceries. Families are having to make a decision between paying rent or buying food. Please help us make a difference!
Learn more at our Summer Food Pantry page.
Malvern Coat and Hoodie Drive
Throughout the month of October, we will be collecting coats, hats, hoodies and gloves for Malvern again this year.
Some larger adult sizes are also needed.
Donations can be place in the Malvern coat bins by each worship entrance. Please make all donations by November 16.
Holiday Breads for Malvern Teachers and Staff
Thank you to all those who donated bread in the fall for teachers and staff.
Malvern Angel Tree
Thank you to all those who donated and supported our Malvern Angel Tree program last year.
