Wesley College in Tanzania

Stonebridge UMC is proud to partner with Wesley College to fund $2,000 in annual scholarships for the next three years.

Wesley College is a new educational venture that is being built from the ground up, not looking at traditional education models, but the specific educational needs in Tanzania and what type of higher education institute would have the ability to address those educational needs. Wesley College will use experiential, project based learning to help prepare students to be job ready professionals.

An Update to Begin 2023 From Wesley College Foundation Executive Director Eric Soard

As another year comes to a close- there's a desire to reflect and look back at the year. What came to mind for 2022 was our growing impact and positive movement we had at Wesley College. Every year brings about change- some unexpected and some needed---but all changes bring about movement and the need to pivot.

Everyone experiences changes that lead to shifts in their lives--physically, mentally, emotionally, and relationally. What have you experienced in your life that has caused you to pivot and shift? Where did those movements take you in your relationship with others, your walk with Christ, and your everyday life? Just like you, Wesley College has shifted in 2022 and you were a part of that positive movement! I want to share some of this growth we experienced and thank YOU for joining us in these changes and pivots.

We experienced transitions in leadership and welcomed a new Principal, Archives Mugisha, in July! We are so thankful for the guidance, knowledge, and respect for students that Mugisha has brought to Wesley College. This movement forward came with sadness for past leadership--while also much excitement and joy for the good that is to come, thanks to Mugisha.

Wesley College also had much movement forward with our enrollment! Wow! We had 222 students enrolled in 2022! That is an increase of 54% from 2021! Think of all of the greater good this will do to have that many more students in their communities being servant leaders.

This student growth exsisted thanks to the movement in giving from YOU! Without your donations- we wouldn't have been able to meet the educational needs for this growing number of students! We had 106 scholarships given in 2022!

And our graduates! We have the joy to see the movement our graduates make in their communities after leaving Wesley College. In 2022- we had 83 graduates Wow! What a tremendous example of faithfulness and hard work for these students. It's truly amazing to see their hard work culminate with graduation and the joining of efforts from faculty as well as support from donors.

As we welcome the new year, please join me in giving thanks for how so many people have come together to make Wesley College possible. As we enter this new year, I pray for blessings on each of you, your families, our country, and the world. May we see even more movement forward and joy in 2023!

New year's blessings,
Eric Soard
