    Sunday School

    3yrs - Kindergarten (9:30 & 10:45 a.m.)

Our precious 3 year olds through Kindergarteners enjoy a traditional hour of Sunday school in there classrooms where they enjoy interactive Bible Stories, crafts, games and more! Two teachers (volunteers) are in each classroom to help our children learn in a fun and safe enviroment.

    1st- 4th Grades: Rotation Model Sunday School (9:30 a.m. & 10:45 a.m.)

What is rotation model Sunday school???
During the school year, our 1st – 4th grade children participate in Rotation Model Sunday School at the 9:30 and 10:45 hours.  Rotation Model Sunday School teaches major Bible stories and concepts through kid-friendly multimedia centers.  Stonebridge UMC has six centers:  Art, Cooking, Science, Video, Computers and Games. Each center is organized around a specific teaching medium. Colorful murals are painted in each of the centers to reflect each center’s theme.  For example, we have a painted movie screen in the Video Center, lab tables in the Science Center and brightly colored art tables in the Art Center.

What volunteers are needed in rotation model Sunday school?
Two types of volunteers are needed in Rotation Model Sunday School.  The Center Leader leads the lesson and the Tour Guide travels with each age group.

What does a center leader do?
Center Leaders lead children to Jesus Christ by creatively teaching the Bible story and concepts through activities in the centers.  Center Leaders teach the same Bible story in all of the centers for four or five Sundays while the children rotate to a different center each week.  Activities include baking in the Cooking Center, conducting experiments in the Science Center, painting in the Art Center, just to name a few!

What does a tour guide do?
Tour Guides travel with an age group to a different center each week providing continuity for the children.  They have the opportunity to get to know a specific group of children.  Tour Guides also assist the Center Leader with the activities in each center.

    How do I get involved?
We are currently recruiting volunteers for the 2011/2012 school year.  To volunteer, please visit the Bridge Kids volunteer tables outside of Celebration Hall and The Bridge.  If you have additional questions about volunteering or Rotation Model Sunday School, please contact Candy Kapischke, Director of Children’s Ministries at candy@mysumc.org or Kristin Anderson, Coordinator of Children’s Sunday School at kristin@mysumc.org

    5th Grade (9:30)

5th graders will participate in a special class during the 9:30 hour called "Grapple." The Grapple curriculum encourage children ages 10-12 to discuss the tough questions preteens ask about faith, relationships and the choices they make.  Each month the children will discuss a different theme. 5th graders also have an opportunity to connect with each other throughout the week with their very own safe and secure online community at MyGrapple.com.
For more information or to volunteer in Bridge Kids Sunday School, please contact Kristin Anderson, Coordinator of Children's Sunday School.

    Nursery Care

    (8:15, 9:30 & 10:45 a.m.)

The Bridge Kids Nursery provides a safe and loving place for your children to be loved, rocked, played with and cared for while their parents attend worship services. Parents receive pagers that vibrate if they are called back to check on their children or if the nursery workers should have any questions. Two paid staff workers are assigned into each nursery room.  Church security procedures ensure proper background checks are performed on all paid staff workers in Bridge Kids Children's Nursery. For more information on Bridge Kids Nursery, contact Karen Bennett, Coordinator of Nursery.
