Summer of Opportunity

Greetings in the Name of our Lord,

The Stonebridge UMC June/July calendar is full of opportunities for serving and making a difference for Christ. I am excited about the potential that this month has for our church. Please pray for each of these events and opportunities. I also want to thank you in advance for your service to Stonebridge and its efforts to reach people for Christ.  

Please pray that God will use us to touch the lives of those for whom we serve. It always amazes me the blessings we receive when we are willing to take our time to work hard in the name of Christ for others. 

It seems like only yesterday that I came to Stonebridge UMC to be your pastor. The time has gone so fast, it is hard to believe that it has been almost two years. As we begin our third year together, join me in seeking God with our whole heart. There is nothing we cannot accomplish with the God of all creation as our guide. 

What does it mean to seek God with your whole heart?

  • INTENSITY - When an actor doesn't give their best to a part, critics will say they "phoned in" their performance. When it comes to our faith, we can ask ourselves: Am I "phoning in" my prayers and my Bible study? Or am I approaching my relationship with God with passion and energy?

  • DURATION - A full commitment to God requires time. How are we investing our time in the practice of our faith? 

  • REPETITION - How many times have you heard the phrase “practice makes perfect”? The more we repeat something, the more it becomes second nature to us. Whether we are playing the piano, typing a letter, or throwing a baseball, the more we repeat the behavior the more it becomes part of us. The same is true when it comes to prayer, calling on God, or considering God’s will in a decision. The more we practice, the stronger God’s will commands our way. 

You will seek me and you will find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
