Join us in November 17 and 24 as we rediscover Christmas once again!
Christmas is all about God’s great gift to the world: Jesus Christ.
To honor the real meaning of one of our faith’s highest holidays, we host a Heart of Christmas Market.
The Heart of Christmas Market presents the opportunity to make a monetary gift toward one of our church’s wonderful serving ministries or partners in honor of your loved ones. For every gift of $25 or more, you will receive a beautiful Christmas ornament, along with a certificate to share with the loved ones you wish to honor.
Each serving ministry or partner will be available to answer questions and help you get connected to their ministry.
If you’re unable to make it to the physical market, you can still give online. Simply list your dollar amount next to ‘Christmas Market’ and include a message designating which serving ministry your contribution should benefit.
2019 Serving Ministries
The following serving ministries will be present at the Heart of Christmas Market in 2019:
Bed Start - Bed Start partners with organizations and volunteers in the community to provide and deliver home furnishings and other household items at no charge to families who are in need.
Children’s Serving Ministry - Our Children’s Serving Ministry offers an opportunity, throughout the year, for our children to serve on special projects that benefit their church, their community, and our partner school Malvern Elementary.
College Ministry - The mission of the Stonebridge UMC college ministry is to embolden colleges students to either continue on or start their faith walk during their college years. These years can be trying times, and this group can help students gather around other Christians who share their highs and lows. The College Ministry meets once a week during Christmas and Summer breaks with a retreat at the end of the summer.
Community Lifeline Center - Community Lifeline Center assists local residents in managing short-term crises to navigate their way back to self-sufficiency. This assistance ranges from financial help, to counseling, job search training, credit and budget counseling, and advocacy.
Embrace Texas - Embrace’s work is two-fold: providing services to at-risk, foster and adopted children and families in our local community and equipping new and existing church orphan care ministries across the county.
Family Promise - Through Family Promise of Collin County, four times a year Stonebridge UMC hosts families who are temporarily without a home. Families spend the night in our rooms above the RAC. Volunteers supply the meals, play with the children, and make our guests feel at home. This is just one part of the program, while the Network helps the families to regain sustainable independence.
Hands and Hearts of Malvern Elementary – Be a part of our partnership at Malvern Elementary. Build relationships as you tutor and mentor children, assist teachers, support the PTA, assist with teacher appreciation events and the workroom, and help sponsor a garden class for students.
The Samaritan Inn – Stonebridge UMC provides and serves meals once a month to residents. Each meals costs $300 and is served by members of our church family. Monetary donations are needed to cover the cost of the meal, and volunteers (4-6) are needed to serve the meal.
Seniors Helping Seniors –A group of Christian volunteers that help seniors and others with minor home maintenance, repairs and special needs focusing on safety and security. The group has helped and assisted many of our own senior members and would like to expand their ministry to more seniors in the area.
Stephen Ministry - Stephen Ministers are lay-people who are trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or separation due to military deployment.
Young Adult Ministry - The mission of the Stonebridge UMC Young Adult Ministry is to provide a space where all walks of faith and life are not only accepted but encouraged, where love is constantly shown to all, and questions are expected. In this stage of life, young adults are always asking, "What's the next step?". We want to help figure that out with other Young Adults, in a community where you can be encouraged and comforted by the word of Christ.
Youth Missions – The youth participate in serving opportunities near and far. Donations provide scholarships so more students can spread the love of Christ through their service work.
Living Water International - Living Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping remote communities throughout the world acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience "living water"—the gospel of Jesus Christ— which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. Stonebridge UMC supports these efforts by sending 12 people to Central America every year to drill a well and teach hygiene in these communities.
Proyecto Abrigo - Through Proyecto Abrigo (or Project Shelter), cinderblock homes are built for families in the poorest communities of Juarez, Mexico. Teams typically make a trip to serve twice a year.
ZOE Ministry - ZOE Ministry is an empowerment ministry that works with orphans and vulnerable children. The organization began its work in Africa but has since expanded to other parts of the world. ZOE provides vocational and spiritual training to the children, whom they help organize into work cooperatives, and enjoy a high success rate of taking some of the most impoverished and at-risk children and helping them gain self-sufficiency, pride, an understanding of resurrection and grace, and often a high status in their communities. Stonebridge UMC currently sponsors a working group of 60 orphans in Malawi, Africa, the poorest country in Africa.
General Missions Fund – These funds are designated for any of our serving ministries, not a particular one. They are available to use for any of the above serving opportunities as well as for beginning new serving opportunities.
