Stonebridge Church Family,
As you are aware, our church will be receiving a new Senior Pastor this summer, as Pastor John and his family are being appointed to First UMC in Wichita Falls. Our church’s Leadership Board has been working with Dr. Ron Henderson, our District Superintendent, to identify our next Senior Pastor. The Board is now pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Jeff Lust as the next Senior Pastor at Stonebridge UMC, effective July 1, 2017.
Pastor Jeff comes to us from Abilene, Texas, where he is currently serving McMurry University as the University Chaplain and Director of Religious Life. The Board was excited to meet Pastor Jeff and his wife Mary and to experience his obvious passion for sharing the Good News. We look forward to seeing how God will continue God’s work through our church.
The Leadership Board will be in touch soon with more information about how we will send the McLarty family to their next place of ministry while preparing to receive Pastor Jeff and Mary into our church family. In the meantime, please see Pastor Jeff’s personal greeting to our church:
Stonebridge United Methodist Church,
I am so excited to become your pastor and join the movement of the Spirit among you at Stonebridge UMC. Mary and I really enjoyed meeting your Leadership Team and immediately felt that we were home.
My ministry career has been in churches and towns of all sizes, including serving beyond the local church for the past six years. One of the things these past six years have taught me is that I really miss pastoring a congregation. I miss it because I believe the local congregation is the primary arena for God’s work and with God’s help we can accomplish far more than we can ever ask or imagine.
I am a native Texan, born and raised in Littlefield, near Lubbock. After an undergraduate degree at McMurry University, I attended seminary at Duke Divinity School. Mary is currently Director of Administration at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Abilene and has held similar positions in churches the past thirteen years. Prior to that, she worked in data management and software development. Between us, we share five children and 3 grandkids from Albuquerque to Los Angeles. We look forward to getting to know all of you and hearing your stories of family and life!
