Missions Ministry
Through the awesome missions ministry, we become the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to all His people. Locally and internationally, the missions teams at Stonebridge United Methodist Church bring the light of Jesus Christ to those that need Him most. To volunteer or for questions, please contact Trevor Castilla tcastilla@sbcglobal.net.
Local Missions
Family Promise- Stonebridge UMC together with Family Promise of Collin County will be a "host" church for families without homes for one week each quarter. Volunteers are needed in areas of transportation, laundry needs, games/activities, and more. Family Promise is our opportunity to show all of God's people how His love conquers all. For more information or to volunteer, contact Duffy Nabors at duffynabors@gmail.com
Meals on Wheels- Each year, we collect food for Meals on Wheels participants to have over the holidays. Each box comes with a shopping list equaling approx. $35 worth of groceries. You can take a box and shop the list yourself, or donate $35 and we will do the shopping for you! Contact Sharon Boswell at sharon@mysumc.org with questions. Drivers are also needed to deliver meals to our loved senior citizens in McKinney.
Clothe-A-Child- The McKinney Clothe-a-Child event takes place annually at Kohl's on Hwy 75 and Eldorado Pkwy. Volunteers are needed to help families shop, serve refreshments, work at the check-in table, translate and more! Contact Matt Deegan at mdeegan@prodigy.net.
Adopt a School- "Hands and Hearts with Malvern Elementary"- Our church family has partnered with McKinney's 3E program to adopt Malvern Elementary school, providing love and support the schools students, faculty and staff throughout the school year. There are many areas to volunteer in. Please contact Carol Dean at Carcandean@yahoo.com with questions or to become a Malvern volunteer.
Habitat for Humanity- The Second Saturday of each month is Stonebridge UMC Build days. All experience levels welcome!
Samaritan Inn- We provide and serve one meal per month for our neighbors at The Samaritan Inn. Donations for the meal as well as servers are always needed and appreciated. Contact Carol Dean at Carcandean@yahoo.com.
Community Food Pantry of McKinney Food Drives- We participate in many food drives throughout the year for the McKinney Food Pantry.
International Missions
Cuidad Juarez, Mexico- Every year, the Stonebridge UMC missions team (and anyone else who want to join them!) travels to Juarez, Mexico through Proyecto Abrigo to build cinderblock homes for families who live in extremely inpoverished conditions. Through the eyes of these families, Jesus Christ's light shines through - and through the works of the mission team, His word and love are spread throughout the community. On each trip the team leaves on a Thursday evening and returns the following Sunday evening. Cost is $400 per person and includes round-trip airfare. Passports are required. For more information, contact Trevor Castilla at tcastilla@sbcglobal.net.
Operation Christmas Child - Operation Christmas Child is sponsored by Samaritan's Purse each October. Our church family purchases plastic shoe boxes and fills them with small toys, hygiene products, games, clothing, etc. so that children overseas will experience the joy of Christmas. For more information, contact Candy Kapischke, Director of Bridge Kids Children's Ministry, at candy@mysumc.org.
